macanudo 1968 premium cigar macanudo cafe new cigarsThe Macanudo 1968 release from General Cigar is an interesting often overlooked cigar. This cigar when initially released was hindered by its above average price point. General Cigar realized their error and lowered the price point to the $6-$8 range.

The Macanudo 1968 is an unusual release for Macanudo. Most Macanudo cigars are mild however the Macanudo 1968 is a new medium-full bodied cigar. Blended with Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, a Connecticut Habano binder and a Honduran San Augustin wrapper finishes this cigar.

Most dedicated Macanudo Cigar will not like this cigar due to the mild to full body profile. However most people ironically who are not Macanudo fans will like this cigar. They did a good job on this one and at the new lower price point it is definitely worth trying.

Macanudo 1968 Cigar Tobacco

Macanudo 1968 is made completely of tobaccos which are either grown by General Cigar or cultivated for the company under an agreement of exclusivity.  Harvested one sun-ripened leaf at a time, aged in tercios and charcoaled wooden barrels to further enrich its flavor, the blend marries proprietary Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco to a tobacco cultivated solely for General Cigar in the remote Nicaraguan island of Ometepe.

These tobaccos were developed expressly to complement the hearty Connecticut Habano binder and flawless, lustrous Honduran San Agustin wrapper.
